May 2008

WE WILL BE CLOSED ON MEMORIAL DAY!

At last, it looks like Spring is finally on its way! Our daffodils and hyacinths are in full bloom. By May 1st, our son , Jon , will have graduated with his degree in Music Education from Western Michigan University. We are thrilled for him, and he will be job hunting for a teaching position in the Fall. In the last Newsletter, Emily was hunting for a summer internship. Emily got her internship right here in Noble County. She will be working with Orchard Hill Farms and learning everything she can about fruit growing. For those of you who don’t know, my father was an Indiana Fruit Grower (Shull’s Lakeridge Orchards) and I grew up on the second largest orchard in Indiana. The whole family is excited for Emily. I’m hoping to borrow both children every once in awhile for “Shop” activities. David is still busy trying to figure out placement for more shelving. The fabric keeps coming in!

***Fabric arriving soon***

The entire line of ELEANOR BURNS Victory Garden Fabric

Also

The 2008 Christmas fabric is coming in slowly, but will be steadily arriving in May with more to come in June.

Remember to present your Guild Card and receive a 10% discount on all regular priced items every time that you shop in the Cottage.

BUCK A BLOCK STARTED IN APRIL

You may continue to sign up for the BUCK A BLOCK. Amazingly, the members are almost equally split between the burgundy and the blue color choice. Remember to bring your finished block each month when you pick up your new block strips and pattern.

We are excited about the classes that we are able to teach. However, the Cottage is small and space is limited. We may add dates as needed to accommodate the number of students who sign up. Several of the students have commented that they appreciate the personal attention they receive when there are fewer in the classes. We limit 4 students to machine classes, and 6 to 8 in hand stitching classes, depending on the project .
