As you know Mother’s day is fast approaching and each of us will either be planning for a visit and gift for our mothers, or we will be taking some time to remember them and reflect on what they have meant to us. I am very grateful that my mother is still living. She is showing the effects of age and it has been difficult to watch the rapid change in her physical condition, however, her mind is strong and her determination to enjoy life is an encouragement to us all.
This is the time I am reminded most of what the scriptures say about mothers in the book of Proverbs 31: 10-31. This passage is too lengthy to record it for you at this time, however, I would encourage you to read it sometime this week. I realize that no mother is perfect, and that is OK. What counts is that we see and understand that their efforts to raise and support our families were not done in vain. If you can, give your mom a hug and a kiss, and tell her you love her. And make sure you get our share as well!!
